Ready, Steady, Bake!

Check out these Bake off inspired decorating ideas using our Tea Party Bedding Range.

Here at Nest we are huge fans of the Great British Bake Off and it’s great to see it back on our screens.  Season 6 has just started here in South Africa on Channel 174 and we are all now gripped in ‘baking fever’ and we’re hooked once again following the trials and tribulations of 12 amateur bakers as we see them knead, beat, whip, dust and sprinkle a multitude of ingredients.  When this season aired in the UK one thing that got as much attention as the bakers was the decor in the Bake Off tent.  There were numerous articles and features in the press about how to recreate the decor in your own kitchen.  But why stop at kitchens?  The Bake Off tent decor would look just as good in your child’s bedroom, and we’ve got the perfect bedding to help you!  Using our cupcake themed Tea Party Duvet Set as a starting point, here’s some design inspiration for all you Bake Off fans.

The Bake Off tent is decorated in numerous pastel colours and if you like that then you’re sure to love our pastel themed Tea Party bedding range.  The Tea Party Duvet Set comes with matching pillowcase and combines scrumptious appliquéd cupcakes and bunting in vintage fabrics.

Wall Colour

The first thing that catches your attention in the Bake Off tent is the powder blue colour of the island units.  Using pastel colours can give a bedroom a relaxed, calming feel. Choose one of the pastel colours in our Tea Party Duvet Set and use it as a backdrop or if you’re not feeling brave enough paint the room in a neutral colour (white/cream) and use the colour on a feature wall.  We love these pretty shades of Pale Blue, Cooking Apple Green and Pink.

Shabby chic and upcycling are all the rage at the moment and the Bake Off tent is certainly following the trend.  Paint old chests of draws, chairs and wardrobes with a chalk paint effect to give your room that vintage feel.

Shabby Chic

Use accents of colour in the room with accessories. In addition to scatter cushions, why not source some fabric letters and use them to spell out your child’s name? Hang them on the wall or prop them on a bookcase or shelf.  Alternatively, if you’re a real Bake Off fan use them to spell out the words ‘BAKE’ or ‘COOK’.

Bunting used to be thought of as a temporary decoration for parties or special occasions but it is now becoming a more permanent form of decoration in interior design.  The Bake Off tent is strewn with bunting, so why not create the same look?  If the walls are painted in neutral colours, hang bunting as a focal point for the room.  Alternatively, string it up under shelving or around the bed as a quirky decoration.
