Planning a Halloween Party needn’t be all about ghouls, goblins, witches and weirdos! For our Halloween Treats Table, we focused on owls: a little bit sweet and a little bit spooky.

GOOD IDEA 1 – Even though we picked a non-traditional animal to focus on for our Halloween party, we stuck to the tried-and-true colour scheme of black, white and orange. Similarly, a unique party can be created by having traditional motifs but an unusual colour scheme.

GOOD IDEA 2 – Scour second hand shops, garden centres and the like for ceramic figurines of animals, pumpkins and lanterns. Focus on their overall shape and do not worry too much about their colour. The reason being that with just a simple can of black spray paint – you are going to transform something kitsch to chic.

GOOD IDEA 3 – Flowers are not really necessary for Halloween, but do decorate with things like pumpkins, corn husks, autumn leaves and bare branches – and if you are keen on a floral arrangement: incorporate darkly hued blossoms into unique vessels like an owl pencil holder or a carved out pumpkin.

GOOD IDEA 4 – Seek out specialist Halloween candy at sweet stores and use these to decorate generic baked goods: top cupcakes, tarts and cookies with fondant pumpkins and candy corn pieces. Then, buy generic candy in black, white and orange colours to hand out to trick and treaters.

GOOD IDEA 5 – Cut up existing party supplies to make matching party decorations. Here we used the Cavallini Petite Parcel Set from In Good Company to make party favour bags, a “birds on a wire” garland and cupcake food toppers.

GOOD IDEA 6 – …and if you have the time, why not get creative with adorable owl inspired treats to add to the party? We’re hoooo-ting over the adorable DIY owl cupcakes from One Charming Party. Just twist an Oreo in half, then add M&M’s for the eyes and nose!
